4 run over while picking onions on Sirajganj highway

At least four people were run over and five others injured while picking up onions from the highway in Sirajganj’s Salanga upazila early today.

An onion-laden truck turned over in dense fog at Naimuri area on the Hatikumrul-Bonpara highway around 4:30am, our Pabna correspondent reports.

Locals went to pick free onions from the highway when they were hit by a pickup van, said Md Mostafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Salanga Police Station.

“Two persons died on the spot while two others succumbed to their injuries later,” he said.

The deceased were identified as Riaz Uddin, 45, Jahidul Islam, 27, Monirul, 25 and Abdul Hamid, 38, all hailing from Salanga of Sirajganj.
