Abahani regain club cup title

Abahani regained the title of club Cup hockey tournament after eight years by thrashing holders Usha Krira Chakra 5-1 in the final of 11th edition of season's curtain-raising tournament at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium today.

It was overall third club cup title for Abahani, and the first one since 2008. The win also helped them exact revenge for defeats in the final of the last two editions against the same team.  

Had Usha won the title, it would have been a record fifth title for the club in this competition.

Abahani conceded the lead in the seventh minute before their Pakistani recruits turned on the style scoring twice in the first half and three more in the second.
