Will consider talks if nine demands met
The agitating students have announced to continue their ongoing "complete shutdown" programme with placing nine- point demands.
They said they will take decision about sitting with the government for talks after consulting with the general students after their nine demands are accepted.
Their movements will continue until the demands are fulfilled, Abdul Kader, a coordinator of Baishamyabirodhi Chhatra Andolon (Antidiscrimination Students Movement), said in a statement at 9:30pm Friday.
One of the nine demands is that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will have to offer apology in public taking responsibility for killing students.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Kader must step down from the cabinet and the political party taking the responsibility for killing students by illegally using the law enforcers.
Deputy inspector generals of Police, commissioners of police, and superintendents of police of the arears where the students got martyred must be sacked from the services.
Vice chancellors and proctors of Dhaka University, Jahangirnagar University and Rajshahi University have to resign, according to the demands.
He said in the statement that the police personnel, who shot the students, and the terrorists of the Chhatra League and Juba League, who carried out attacks on the students and ordered to attack them (students) have to be detained and murder cases will have be top filed against them and they have to arrested in connection with the cases.
The family members of the students who have been killed and injured must be given compensations, Abdul Kader said in the statement.
The statement also demanded to stop student politics and said that the students unions must be made effective at all educational institutions Dhaka University, Jahangirnagar University, Chattogram University, Rajshahi University by banning the sycophant student politics including Bangladesh Chhatra League.
All the academic institutions and halls must be opened immediately.
Those who are involved in the student movement must be given assurance that they will not be harassed academically and administratively.
One of the assistant-coordinators of Baishamyabirodhi Chhatra Andolon, Abdullah Salehin Ayan, through an mobile sms said government imposed curfew in face of resistance by students and citizens of the country.
He said government imposed it to suppressed their movement.
Kader said they urged to the people to continue the shutdown programme.
He also urged to the Army to take position towards them instead of the government.
