‘Elsa’ cake goes horribly wrong for one party, photo goes viral
Birthday parties for kids are very stressful these days. Gone are the days when kids were happy with simply birthday cakes and games. Themes around favourite movies, superheroes are a must and for girls “Frozen’s” Elsa is the rage, these days.
However one family found out that the Elsa-shaped (the character from Frozen) cake they had ordered was nothing like the one they had hoped it would be. A picture of that Elsa cake that was delivered to them was posted on Reddit by user OfficialBigHead and has since become a topic of discussion on social media, reports Indian Express.
The rather unappetising Elsa cake was compared next to one from USA-based bakery called McGreevy Cakes, which has quite a stunning Elsa cake to offer. As this piece on Mashable notes, the cake that is getting panned was not really made by McGreevy Cakes but by an unknown baker.
While it’s not clear whether the picture was really made for a birthday party, the ‘ugly’ Elsa cake has become a point of much mockery online.
But Shawna McGreevy, the owner of McGreevy Cakes took to Facebook to point out that those mocking the cake are wrong. She wrote, “I know, guys, that no one means any harm, here. It’s just that… well… this is what I think- I think someone tried. I think someone had the guts to go for it… even when, I’m sure, they didn’t know if they could pull it off. They took the chance anyway and put themselves out there. And maybe it didn’t come out they way they were hoping, but it’s their WORK.”
She adds in her post that shaming the person for trying was wrong and that even she has had “Epic Fails” in the past. McGreevy said that she was not happy that her work is being used to shame someone else who was just taking a shot at baking.
