Google celebrates the 46th Earth Day with its doodles showing five different biomes across the world.

The popular search engine is known for celebrating significant days with its doodles, which are done in a way that one has to concentrate to figure out how Google is written, reports The Indian Express.

This Earth Day, the Google logo morphs to depict Earth's five major biomes: the tundra, forest, grasslands, desert, and coral reefs. Each illustration has an animal comfortable in the vicinity of its habitat.

The doodles, created by doodler Sophie Diao, show a polar bear in the tundra, a red fox in the forest, an elephant in the grasslands, a tortoise in the desert and an octopus in the ocean, which can be seen either in gaps of 15 minutes or by refreshing the page.

“The vastness of the Earth’s diversity makes it an intimidating topic, but in the end I chose to highlight the Earth’s five major biomes,” Diao said in a blog post.

“On a day like this, we remember and celebrate our home in this great and stunning ecosystem,” she added.

April 22 is celebrated as the Earth Day since 1970. It is coordinated by the Earth Day Network, and is celebrated in more than 193 countries, reports The Indian Express.

“Earth Day is the one day that transcends culture, language, and tradition,” Google said, as it explained the significance of its series of doodles celebrating our planet.

"Earth Day is the largest, most recognisable face of the environmental movement," said Kathleen Rogers, president of the Earth Day Network.
