World's oldest street artist: 104-year-old 'yarn bomber'
Street artist is probably not the first word to come to mind when thinking of Grace Brett.
Brett, 104 years old is still an active member of a stealthy group of knitters called the Souter Stormers — a club dedicated to the fine art of "yarn bombing" (basically covering random objects like park benches or telephone boxes with colourfully knitted patterns), according to Mashable.com.
“I thought it was a really good idea to decorate the town and enjoyed having my crochet included," said Brett, as reported in The Press and Journal. "I didn’t think it was good enough."
“I liked seeing my work showing with everyone else and thought the town looked lovely.”
The yarn bombing took place in Selkirk, Scotland, earlier in September as part of the Yes Arts Festival. Although many of the members of the Souter Stormers are around retirement age or older, Brett is by far the eldest member.
