Two more diagnosed with coronavirus in Manikganj
Two more persons, including a policeman, have tested positive for coronavirus in Shibalay and Harirampur upazilas of Manikganj.
The infected policeman is from Shibalay while the other person is a businessman of Harirampur upazila, our Manikganj correspondent reports quoting authorities.
Local authorities have locked down eight villages of Shibalay and one of Harirampur following the tests.
On Monday, the police official with coronavirus symptoms went to Shibalay Upazila Health Complex where doctors collected his samples and sent to Dhaka for testing, said Dr Arshad Ullah, administrator of Manikganj District Hospital.
"His test report came last night. He was kept in the isolation unit of Sadar Hospital. He will be sent to Kuwait-Maitree Hospital in Dhaka soon," the doctor added.
Following the incident, eight villages, including where the infected policeman lives, have been locked down, said Shibalay Upazila Nirbahi Officer Firoz Mahmud.
On the other hand, the infected businessman went to his home in Harirampur from Dhaka on Wednesday.
As he showed symptoms of Covid-19, his samples were collected and sent to IEDCR, said Dr Abdul Malek, upazila health and family planning officer, adding that the results came positive.
Later, the village of the infected person was locked down, said Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sabina Yasmin.
Earlier, Singair municipality and Jarmita union of Manikganj were also locked down in order to contain coronavirus infection in the area.
