Two Sonali Bank officials stabbed by muggers in Bogura
Two officials of Sonali Bank's Nandigram branch in Bogura were stabbed by muggers on the Natore-Bogura highway in Shajahanpur upazila of the district earlier today.
Motiur Rahman, manager of the bank's Nandigram branch, and Ataur Rahman, a senior officer of the same branch, are now undergoing treatment at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical college Hospital in Bogura with the injuries on their hands and legs, said police and doctors.
The two officials came under attack by unknown miscreants on two motorcycles in Jorabattala area around 9:30am while they were going to work on a motorcycle, said Azim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Shajahanpur Police Station.
During the attack, the muggers snatched Tk 10,000, a bag with the keys to the vault of the bank's Nandigram branch and their mobile phones, our Bogura correspondent reports quoting the OC.
"We started conducting a drive to arrest the attackers," added the police official.
Abdul Wadud, assistant director of the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, said. "Both bank officials are now out of danger. The attackers mainly hit their hands and legs."
Shawkat Kabir, officer-in-charge of Nandigram Police Station, said a police team has been deployed at the bank's Nandigram branch due to security reasons as the muggers took the keys to the bank's vault.
