“ATM booth” for fresh water in Dhaka

To address clean water crisis in some pockets in Dhaka, WASA introduced a fresh water booth in Fakirapool area, some ten month ago with the idea of dispensing fresh water to customers.  

The water ‘ATM booth’ in Fakirapool, is the country’s first electronic booth for collecting fresh water, and charges 40 paisa/Tk.0.40 per liter. Six months ago, the pre-paid card system was launched by WASA for customers to avail this service.  

The experimental project has been proved to be a success, and now WASA is planning to open 100 such booths around the city.
