Waiting for India’s response: Minister

Bangladesh is waiting to have an official detailed response from India over Nur Hossain, including his extradition process, State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam said today.

"We have written to the Indian authorities, and are waiting for their response," the minister told reporters at Sonargaon Hotel in the city.

Shahriar Alam said the government will let the media know once it gets the official feedback from India.

The state minister also said they cannot comment on the media reports in which case Nur Hossain, the prime suspect in the Narayanganj seven murders, has been shown arrested in Kolkata.

"We can only comment on official response," Alam added.

The state minister said the government has got support from the Interpol over his arrest.

An anti-terrorism squad of Kolkata police arrested Nur Hossain along with his two associates Zahidul Zaman and Salim at Indraprastha flat building in Koikhali.

A Kolkata court placed the trio on an eight-day remand for each on the following day.

Nur Hossain stands accused of the gruesome abduction and killing of seven people, among whom were Narayanganj city panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Sarkar.

The seven were abducted on April 27 in the city and six bodies were spotted floating in the Shitalakkhya river on April 30. The seventh surfaced the next day.
