Fire in Mumbai kills 4
A fire broke out in a residential building in the Indian city of Mumbai early Thursday, killing four people.
Fire officer S. Pawar said the third and fourth floors of the five-story building were engulfed before six fire engines extinguished the blaze in an hour.
A New Delhi television news channel said seven people suffered burns and were taken to a hospital.
Firefighters rescued 11 people trapped on the floors affected by the fire. The cause was being investigated, Pawar said.
The fire occurred in the Marol area of Mumbai, a densely populated city on the west coast and India’s financial and entertainment capital.
A fire at an upscale rooftop restaurant in Mumbai last week killed 15 people.
