Bangladesh condemns killing of Palestinians on Gaza border

Bangladesh has strongly condemned the use of force by the Israeli authorities against Palestinians yesterday which left scores of Palestine civilians dead and several thousand injured on the Gaza border.

Expressing deep condolences and sympathies to the Palestinians, Bangladesh called on international community to put pressure on Israel to stop the atrocities immediately, according to a statement of the External Publicity Wing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Bangladesh also expresses its dismay at the United States’ move of shifting its Embassy to Jerusalem. Bangladesh stresses on preserving the legal status of Jerusalem within the framework of relevant UN resolutions,” the statement read.

Bangladesh also reaffirmed its position in favour of establishing the State of Palestine on the basis of two-state solution and on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, the statement added.

Israeli troops shot 55 Palestinian protesters dead on the Gaza border on Monday as the United States opened its embassy to Israel in Jerusalem, a move that has fuelled Palestinian anger and drawn foreign criticism that it undermines peace efforts.

The death toll rose to 60 today after Palestinians gathered for fresh protests along the Gaza border.

The toll included a baby who died from tear gas inhalation along with eight children under the age of 16.

It was the bloodiest single day for Palestinians since the Gaza conflict in 2014.
