Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) contact group on Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar has urged Burma to accept UN Human Rights Council's fact finding mission for an independent mission into the Rohingya crisis.

The OIC contact group made the call in a report, which was unanimously adopted as a declaration, reads a press release from Bangladesh's Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.

The declaration included a call to Myanmar to make an official statement about the casualties and internally displaced Rohingya community since outbreak of violence in August.

OIC also acknowledged the violence in Myanmar as "ethnic cleansing" and condemned the atrocities committed against the Rohingya Muslim community.

So far, about 415,000 Rohingyas have fled into Bangladesh since August under persecution of the Myanmar military and its local Buddhist supporters.

In face of international condemnation, Myanmar's de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi has appeared for a public speech and said she "wants to find out why Rohingyas are fleeing".
