Highlights: Suu Kyi addresses nation on Rohingya crisis

Myanmar's de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi, in her first address to the nation since the recent Rohingya crisis, condemned all human rights violations and said anyone responsible for abuses in troubled Rakhine State would face the law, reports Indian news portal The Hindustan Times.

Suu Kyi said Myanmar did not fear international scrutiny and was committed to a sustainable solution to the conflict.

Communal violence has torn through Myanmar's Rakhine state since August 25, leaving hundreds dead and forcing Rohingyas -- counted among the world's most persecuted community -- to flee the country, reports The Hindustan Times.

Here are the highlights of her televised address to the nation as reported by the Indian news portal:

9.30am: Suu Kyi says she doesn't want Myanmar to be a nation divided by religious beliefs or ethnicities. "Hate and fear are the main scourges of our world."
