South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ahn Seong-doo today called upon the international community to help Bangladesh in addressing the Rohingya crisis.

He made the call during a meeting with Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim at his secretariat office in Dhaka.

"The Myanmar army is killing common and innocent people irrespective of their caste and creed in the name of cleansing the Rohingyas. This is unexpected," the South Korean envoy said.

As a result, Bangladesh has to face the pressure of taking care of the Rohingya refugees, he also said.

The diplomat expressed appreciation to Bangladesh's generosity in providing shelter and other assistance to the refugees, and particularly lauded the role of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Ahn Seong-doo assured South Korea's assistance for the Rohingya people who have taken shelter in makeshift camps or are staying in the open in Teknaf and Ukhia of Cox's Bazar.

Mohammed Nasim told the South Korean envoy that Bangladesh has been making its best to provide the life-saving materials despite its limited capacity.

He also urged South Korea to mount world pressure on Myanmar.
