Modi sends letter of appreciation to Agri minister for playing role of minister-in-waiting

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday sent a letter of thanks to Bangladesh's agriculture minister Muhammad Abdur Razzaque for playing role of the minister-in-waiting during the premiere's recent visit to the country.

Narendra Modi described Bangladesh as "beautiful" country in the letter dated March 31 and wrote, "Although the schedule of my visit was very full, I noticed the great care and attention that had been taken for ensuring every small detail at all venues."

"I also noticed your own personal involvement with the officials and leaders at every place I visited. I truly appreciate the time and attention that you committed to my visit," the letter of thanks reads.

"I valued our interaction and fully share your views about the abiding importance of India-Bangladesh ties," Modi wrote.

The Indian premier's letter maintained highest level of formality. It also added "Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration".

Minister-in-waiting is a status of the designated minister of a country who accompanies a head of state during the latter's formal visit to the country.

Narendra Modi paid a two-day visit to Bangladesh on March 26 on the occasion of the country's golden jubilee of independence and birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
