White House condemns violence in Myanmar
The White House has reiterated a condemnation towards the ongoing attacks and violence in Myanmar that has thrown the Rohingyas in limbo.
In a statement released by the office of the press secretary in the White House, it said that the US is alarmed by the allegations of rights abuses.
"We are alarmed by the allegations of human rights abuses, including extrajudicial killings, burning of villages, massacres, and rape, by security forces and by civilians acting with these forces' consent," it read.
"We welcome the Burmese government's commitment to ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches victims as quickly as possible," it said.
"We greatly appreciate the significant efforts of the government of Bangladesh to facilitate humanitarian assistance," it said in the statement.
