Govt declares mourning day tomorrow
The government has declared to observe mourning day tomorrow (Thursday) following the casualties in the US-Bangla Airlines plane crash in Kathmandu, Nepal on Monday.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting held at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in Dhaka today with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair, a press release issued by the PMO says.
In the meeting, PM Sheikh Hasina also directed the authorities concerned to strengthen existing air-safety measures to avoid such accidents in future, the press release added.
As per the decision, doa and prayer meetings will be held at all religious institutions and places of worship including mosques, temples and churches and pagodas across the country on Friday.
A team from Bangladesh will also go to Nepal in order to collect DNA samples for the identification of the bodies.
At least 51 people were killed as the US-Bangla Airlines aircraft crashed and burst into flames while landing at Trivubhan International Airport in Kathmandu on Monday afternoon.
