Trump seeks end to chain migration, visa lottery to US
The President of the United States Donald Trump has called upon the Congress to pass a bill to reform the country’s immigration policy by ending chain migration and visa lottery systems.
In his weekly address at the White House yesterday, Trump termed the country’s current immigration policy outdated and said it is incompatible with the national security.

He stressed that the chain migration and visa lottery systems are not helping the everyday American workers, tax payers and national security.
He also said the immigrants are entering the US through these systems based on family ties, not based on skills or merit, and are putting great strain on the federal welfare.
“It is time to create a merit-based immigration system that will select new arrivals based on their ability to support themselves financially and to make positive contributions to the US society,” Trump said.
He called on the Congress to pass a bill to end chain migration and also visa lottery to the US.
“We want people to come in who can love our country,” the US president said.
He added that the new immigration system will allow everyone to have a commonsense immigration rule that will promote civilisation, wage growth, and most importantly safety.
