Yemeni rebels’ mortar shells kill 2 Bangladeshis in KSA
Two Bangladesh nationals were killed on May 5 and May 6 in Najran area, South Eastern province of Saudi Arabia, 650km away from Jeddah and 50km from Yemen border), by mortar shells launched by Houthi rebels of Yemen.
According to a foreign ministry press release issued today, the deceased were identified as Mizan, son of Mafiz of Bateshar village under Barura upazila in Comilla and Abdul Jalil, son of Abdul Aziz of Lemua village in Patharghata upazila of Barguna.
The incidents took place while they were working at their respective work places at Najran.
This is the first incidents of such killing by the Houthi rebels.
Representatives of Bangladesh Consulate General, Jeddah, visited the area immediately after the incident, the press release added.
They have contacted the employers of the victims as well as family members in Bangladesh.
The bodies have been preserved in the mortuary of the King Khaled Hospital in Najran.
Bangladesh Consulate General in Jeddah is coordinating with the employers to send back the bodies and arrange burial in line with the desire of the family members of the victims, as well as for realisation of due compensation.
