BCL activists lock CU gate, protesting attack on 2 leaders
A section of Chhatra League activists locked the entrance of Chittagong University (CU) early today (June 1, 2022).
The BCL activists demonstrated protesting an attack on two of their leaders. Following this, buses for teachers and shuttle train service remain closed.
The protesters also put padlock on gate number 2 at the university's Zero Point, our Chattogram staff correspondent reports.
They put barricades, felling trees on different points of the road.
According to campus sources, two BCL leaders of the Varsity Express (VX) group -- Pradeep Chakrabortty Durjoy and Md Rashed Hossain -- were beaten up by the followers of local cable service provider Md Hanif around 3:00pm yesterday.
At that time, the attackers damaged their motorcycles. They were later rescued and taken to Chittagong University medical centre.
BCL's VX unit activists demanded a fair investigation on the incident and locked the university's main gate early today.
Officer-in-charge of Hathazari Police Station Rafiqul Islam said, "We rushed to the spot early in the morning. We have heard about the attack. We're trying to solve it."
