DU develops software to turn braille to Bangla

A research team of the Institute of Information Technology (IIT) of Dhaka University has developed a software, which converts braille text to Bangla.

Visually impaired students of the university will be benefited by using this software, said the university authority.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman yesterday inaugurated the software as chief guest at Prof Abdul Matin Chowdhury's virtual classroom yesterday.

Six members of the research team, led by Prof Muhammad Shoyaib of IIT, made the software.

Other members are Assistant Prof Ahmedul Kabir and students Mihaj Kamal, Atiq Ahmed, Md Arman Hossain and Sadiqul Haque Sadi of the same institute.

 Visually impaired people will be able to spread their original works, stories, and poems directly to the readers without the help of any other intermediary.

Around 70 visually impaired students are studying at the university.
