Failing to rejoin after higher studies: Posts of 13 DU teachers declared vacant
The Dhaka University authorities today declared vacant posts of 13 teachers as they failed to rejoin after pursuing higher studies abroad.
The punitive action against the teachers was taken at a syndicate meeting of the university this evening, reports our Dhaka University correspondent quoting DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Akhteruzzaman.
The posts were announced vacant as the teachers did not join the university as per the condition, said the VC.
According to campus sources, new teachers will be appointed against those vacant posts as there is a shortage in concerned departments.
Those teachers owe money to the university amounting ranging from Tk 9 lakh to Tk 53 lakh. A letter will be sent to them to clear the debts, sources added.
Of the 13 teachers, some teachers through letters sought resignation from the university. The authority said they will accept their resignation letter if they pay their dues.
Those teachers took benefits from the DU while staying aboard. As they did not return to the university, they have to pay their debt, said the sources.
