Not allowed music on rag day, students ransack school premises at Banani

SSC candidates of Banani Bidyaniketon today (June 4, 2022) carried out vandalism inside the school building as they were barred from using soundboxes to play music during their rag day celebrations, police said.

The incident happened around 3:00 pm, Officer-in-charge of Banani Police Station Mohammad Noor e Azam Miah told The Daily Star.

The SSC candidates wanted to use soundboxes to play music while celebrating their last day at school, but the school authorities did not allow them, the OC said.

Later, they ransacked several window glasses, chairs and tables of the classroom, the police officer added.

A video clip of the incident showed that many of the students, wearing school uniforms, were throwing brick chips targeting the school building while leaving the premises in a group.
