Student run over by truck on campus: RU appoints new proctor

Dr Ashabul Haque, a professor of mathematics department of Rajshahi University, was made the new proctor today.

Prof Pradip Kumar Pandey, public relation officer of the university, confirmed the development to our campus correspondent.

The development came after Leaket Ali was removed from the post of acting proctor last night following the death of a student on the campus.

A fourth-year student, Mahmud Habib Himel, of graphic design, crafts and history of the university's arts department, was crushed to death and another student was injured as a truck ran over a motorcycle on the campus last night.

The incident occurred near the university's Habibur Rahman Hall around 8:45pm.
