55yr old Balayet sits for DU admission test tomorrow

Fifty-five-year-old Balayet Sheikh, who has become a familiar name to netizens in the country, is going to sit for Dhaka University admission test under Social Science faculty (D unit) tomorrow (June 11, 2022).

Balayet, from Mawna in Gazipur, had long aspired to study at DU but could not due to many obstacles.

Expressing gratitude, Balayet – in a Facebook post – sought prayers from all for his exam.

He will sit for the DU admission test at room 802, Department of Mathematics in A F Mujibur Rahman Bhaban, his Facebook post said citing his admit card.

Earlier, on May 22, the US Embassy in Dhaka wished Balayet success ahead of the DU admission test.

In 1983, Balayet had taken preparation to sit for Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams but could not complete registration due to lack of money.

He tried again to sit for the SSC exams in 1988 but could not due to flood across the country.

After months, he started his career as a photographer. Now, he is Gazipur's Sreepur correspondent of daily Karatoa.

Balayet is now a father of two sons and one daughter.

His daughter had the chance to study at Rajuk Uttara Model College but she was not interested to continue classes. Even, his elder son is not interested to continue studying.

Balayet got depressed as his son and daughter failed to fulfil his dreams.

The indomitable Balayet finally passed SSC in 2019 and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) in 2021.

Balayet said his goal is to study in the Mass Communication and Journalism department of DU.
