BCL activists 'forcefully vacate' student out of Badrunnessa College hostel
A group of Chhatra League activists of Begum Badrunnesa Government Mohila College allegedly forcefully drove out a student of her dorm room last night claiming that she spread false allegations against them.
According to some residential students of the dormitory, a post was published in a closed Facebook group where the person claimed that the BCL activists, followers of General Secretary of the college unit Habiba Akhter Symoon, collected money from the residential students for celebrating Habiba's birthday on March 1.
The BCL women suspected that the victim -- Laizu Afrin -- leaked the information on Facebook and thus forced her out of her room in the new hostel of the college, they said.
In some video footage, obtained by this newspaper, the BCL activists were seen throwing some clothes out of a room.
When contacted, Habiba, however, denied the allegation and said Laizu was not driven out of her room, rather she exchanged her room with another student following the authorities' instruction.
"I have an examination tomorrow (today) but Symoon's followers forcefully drove me out of my room and they threw out my clothes and belongings. When I tried to film the incident, they obstructed me," Laizu told The Daily Star.
She said she is completely unaware of any Facebook post that might have been given on the issue of collecting money from the students.
Some police officials also went to the spot after the college administration contacted them.
"We have been informed of such an incident and contacted the law enforcers. That student will stay in her previous room and we will further look into the matter tomorrow," Professor Sabikun Nahar told The Daily Star.
