ALL THAT GLITTERS
A Wish List for 2015
For many of us, the New Year symbolises a new beginning -- be it of a business idea, a new relationship or just re-building the habit of reading a book a week! There are, however, many stories that hover around, belonging to the people in the streets. The Star People team brings to you a wish list for 2015 from people surviving in the capital, who dare to dream of a better future.
The New Year brings with it new hopes and resolutions. For Joy Deb, a Goldsmith, who has set up shop in Taanti Bazaar at Old Town for the past 30 years, the New Year inspires expectation that his business will flourish. The owner of JK Jewellery Workshop says, “The past two years has seen the decrease in the price of gold and this has affected our livelihood. It has become increasingly difficult to support my family,” he continues. “The amount of time and effort we put into our craftsmanship does not reap the prices it once used to. This year, I would like to see an improvement in the economy so that people can spend more money on gold.”
Joy Deb would also like to see a change in our current political situation. “My strong belief is that our country can be run more smoothly and more peacefully if our leaders were not in constant discord. I hope next year brings harmony to our political climate,” he says.
