Argentina hungrier for WC glory: Maradona
Diego Maradona believes that Argentina will upset Germany in Sunday's World Cup final, because Alejandro Sabella's men want victory more.
Die Mannschaft are the clear favourites going into the game in Rio de Janeiro on the back of their stunning 7-1 demolition of hosts Brazil in the last four, while there is also the fact that they have eliminated the Albiceleste at the quarter-final stage in each of the last two tournaments.
However, Maradona believes that the doggedness and determination that Argentina displayed in defeating Netherlands on penalties in the semi-finals will once again see them emerge victorious.
"The favourite never wins," the legendary Albiceleste No.10 stated on Telesur's 'De Zurda' television show.
"I have great faith in Argentina. We have more hunger for glory than Germany."
Maradona inspired his country to World Cup glory in Mexico in 1986, setting up the winning goal in the 3-2 win over West Germany in the final.
However, he was in charge of the Argentina side routed 4-0 by Germany in the last eight in South Africa four years ago.
