A Fiesta of Art
The first edition of International Art Biennale Cox's Bazar-2015, a new platform for international art, will be held at Cox's Bazar Institute and Public Library from September 10 - 13.
An initiative of a group of artists, curators, university teachers and writers, it's a non-profit platform collaborating with 52 participating artists, critics and media experts from Bangladesh and abroad.
The event will present a panoramic survey of work by artists from Bangladesh, India and Korea. Mustafa Zaman, Razib Datta, Bipasha Hayat, Afsana Sharmin Zhuma, Ashim Halder Sagor, Hyelyoung Lee, Kaiser Ahamed, Yasmin Jahan Nupur , Kabir Ahmed Masum Chisty, Mumit Mahabub, Nirvair Singh Rai, Kaisar Ahamed, will present major projects alongside some of the emerging names from the region.
Salimullah Khan, Pavel Partha and Syed Nizar Alam will participate in the discussion. The four-day festival will include solo projects, curated exhibitions of photography, photo montage, watercolours by Oriental Painting Study Group, artworks, drawing, calligraphy, paper collage, print, installation, an ambitious children art project, artists' talks series, performance art, experimental film screenings, presentations by local galleries, origami workshop by Korean artists, live music and puppetry by Jolpori Puppet Studio with Cox's Bazar School Children will be held at the biennale.
Origami exhibition of Hyelyoung Lee and Sangmi Shin will shed light on the international art scenario through a workshop with Cox's Bazar school children.
Amirul Rajiv is the curator of the biennale while Aranya Sharma and Sabyasachi Mistry are co-organisers of it.
The Daily Star, Prothom Alo, Depart, Oriental Painting Study Group, Open Art, Dream Art Play, Nitya Upohar, Agami Prokashoni, Dainik Cox's Bazar, Cox's Bazar Sangskritik Kendra and Digital Hospital are assisting in the event.
