Moushumi Hamid: All set for challenges
Moushumi Hamid rose to prominence after becoming the runner up in Lux Channel i Superstar 2010. Since then, she has worked in a wide range of TV shows. Most notably, the telefilm Roshni made her the talk of the town at the time of its release on Channel i and Kolkata's ETV Bangla. Apart from television, she has also been tremendously impressive on the silver screen in recent years. The actor took out some time to speak to The Daily Star about her upcoming ventures.
How busy are you right now with Eid projects?
Moushumi: I have been very busy with different Eid TV shows. Since Eid is just around the corner, these shows are taking up all my time. Besides, I have taken up some TV serials.
Which projects have you wrapped up so far?
Moushumi: I have finished shooting two telefilms called Komolar Bonobaash and Meghmala. On the other hand, I have wrapped up two TV serials. One of them is directed by Golam Sohrab Dodul. I am also keen for people to watch Efa Education, a telefilm that I recently completed.
Out of all these TV shows, which one is closest to your heart?
Moushumi: It is very difficult for me to pick one favourite show. I have enjoyed playing all these different characters for different reasons, but I would especially like to mention Komolar Bonobaash, where I play the titular character. I think it is a really good telefilm and I have loved working with the director, Sumon Anwar.
You are known for choosing quite uncommon and unpredictable roles. Is there any particular reason why?
Moushumi: To be honest, I am drawn to projects that have something different to offer. I want to be remembered for portraying a variety of characters on screen. As an actor, I am always up for challenges and hungry for more.
After 'Jalaler Golpo,' you have been on a break from movies. Why so?
Moushumi: It is every actor's dream to work in movies. I am no exception. However, I need to choose quality films and characters, which are hard to come by. Jalaler Golpo was well-received both at home and abroad, so I am just being careful about choosing films now. I will not say yes to a film unless it is something I really like.
