Dhupchhaya observes Shamsur Rahman's death anniversary

Dhupchhaya Sahitya Ashor, a literary and cultural forum, observed the 9th death anniversary of pioneering modern poet Shamsur Rahman on Monday.

The organisation undertook a day-long elaborate programme at its office in Shankipara to mark the day. The event included a discussion on the life and work of the poet as well as poetry recitation.

A discussion was held.

Professor Sarder Abdus Sattar, an eminent academic and researcher of Bengali Literature, was the chief guest.

Poets-Fayez Ahmed, Maqsudul Alam and Hasan Jamil took part in the discussion with Professor Afzal Rahman of Bengali Department at Govt. Ananda Mohan College in the chair.

Terming Shamsur Rahman as a 'blessed son of modern poetry', the speakers said, the readers learnt about the history of different democratic movements of the country through his writings.

Poet Rubina Azad entertained the audience with her mesmerising presentation and performance in the recitation session from the poems of Rahman.
