A blend of Bharatnatyam and Carnatic music

Kolpotoru, a sister concern of Shadhona, has organised a Bharatnatyam festival at the main auditorium of Chhayanaut. Amit Chowdhury, a guru of the troupe, along with eight of his disciples, will perform Bharatnatyam in a two-day (July 25-26) festival titled “Rongoprobesh”, a celebration of dance. The show will be held at 7pm everyday.

The finest Carnatic musicians from Kolkata, India, will accompany the young dancers. They will also perform a Carnatic Music Kacheri (concert) on the second day.     

As an initiative to create space for learning and practicing dance and other performing arts, Kolpotoru embarked on its journey on August 30, 2008. Lubna Mariam, artistic director Shadhona, is the director of Kolpotoru.
