Children sketch Bangabandhu

The children of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Sangrahashala (art gallery) drew sketches of Bangabandhu at the art gallery premises in the town yesterday.

The art gallery organised the painting competition for children, marking National Mourning Day commemorating the 40th anniversary of

martyrdom of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Some 139 children from different educational institutions of the town participated in the competition, in four groups.

The judges of the competition were Siddhartha Dey, assistant professor of Fine Arts Department at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University in Trishal and Badal Chakraborty, trainer of Zainul Shishu Charupath.

Earlier, deputy keeper of the art gallery Dr Bijoy Krishna Banik inaugurated the competition. Advocate ABM Nuruzzaman Khokon the chief guest at the prize giving ceremony distributed prizes among 12 winners.

Mymensingh Zila Shilpakala Academy and Shishu Academy also undertook programmes including a painting competition and discussions marking the occasion.
