BRAC IED organises children’s book launching event
BRAC Institute of Educational Development (BRAC IED), organised a story book launching event for children, recently at their premises. The books were part of a series titled ‘Esho Golpo Shuni’, written by 16 authors. 30 books, 15 each for two age groups (1-3 years and 3-5 years, respectively) were launched during the event. Specifically tailored for the two age groups mentioned, the books are meant to provide enjoyment, while also ensuring a child’s holistic development.
Renowned journalist and writer Anisul Hoque, was present as the chief guest at the occasion. He was closely involved with the authors in guiding them through their writing process. “Books provide comfort from the moment you lift one into your hands. They turn to magic when the stories carry us off into different worlds, and teach us how to love its characters and the people around us,” mentioned Anisul Hoque. “If the power of stories was celebrated more, we would have the strength to solve various social issues. I have always been set on the path of stories and literature, because they hold the power to save lives.”
Dr Erum Marium, Executive Director of BRAC IED, stated, “The more we read the more joy we bring into our lives through stories. This initiative was undertaken to make sure the books reach all children.”
During the event, the writers read out their stories to the audience and described the story-writing process, along with how they were inspired to write them.
Professionals, principals and senior management, who work with young children and in various reputed educational institutions, were present among many others, during the programme.
