Directors' Guild oath-taking ceremony held
The oath-taking ceremony for the Directors' Guild was recently conducted at Bangladesh Shishu Academy. The ceremony began to the tune of the national anthem. Renowned director Amjad Hossain administered the newly elected committee of the Directors' Guild on Monday, who took the responsibility for two years through their oath. The former chairman of the committee later addressed the audience. He hoped for the betterment of the Directors' Guild and assured that he will still be with the committee for any kind of support. Scriptwriter Mamunur Rashid, the election commissioner of Directors' Guild expressed his gratitude for the fair election of the new committee.
Newly elected general secretary S A Haque Olike mentioned that he was seeking cooperation from everyone in the journey towards success. The new President, Salahuddin Lavlu added that the telefiction industry deals with Tk 2,500 crore annually, therefore, he urged that it too is recognised as an art and given priority like the film industry. State Minister of Information, Tarana Halim attended as a guest during the event. She hoped that the new committee will proceed with prosperity. She also mentioned that during the early times, besides films, National Awards were also presented for television and she expressed her interest to revive the practice.
Later on, there was a cake-cutting ceremony in the presence of State Minister of Information, Tarana Halim. Other speakers that presided were playwright Masum Reza and Shahidul Alam Sachchu. A cultural event marked the end of the ceremony. Admired duo Afzal Hossain and Suborna Mustafa, presented the audience with dialogues from one of their well-known plays. Renowned artistes Ferdous Wahid entertained the audience, while Mir Sabbir enthralled them with his beautiful flute piece.
