Gallery Cosmos organises Sukhamoy Majumder’s solo exhibition
Gallery Cosmos is currently hosting a solo art exhibition of Indian artist Sukhamoy Majumder at Atelier71, Cosmos Centre, in Dhaka. Internationally renowned Bangladeshi artist Shahabuddin Ahmed inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest on August 22. The exhibition features 22 artworks by the artist.
Sukhamoy Majumder, a Kolkata-based contemporary painter, was born in 1962. A native of Amherst Street in Kolkata, he has attended Mitra Institution, Saint Paul’s College and Calcutta University. His first solo exhibition was held in Mumbai in 1987. Since then, he has held numerous exhibitions across India and Bangladesh as a self-taught artist. Portraits focusing on human faces as well as nature-inspired abstracts make his artistic style distinctive.
His parents are from Bangladesh. The artist has deep connections to both sides of the border, and he wishes to see a boost in collaborative art ventures between Bangladesh and India. The exhibition is open from 12 noon to 5 pm daily, till September 4.
