Proshanta Karmakar Buddha opens doors to his solo exhibition
Open Door, a solo art exhibition by Prashanta Karmakar Buddha, is currently taking place at Radius Centre in Gulshan 1. National Professor Anisuzzaman inaugurated the show as the chief guest on September 20. Sabah Saleheen Azim, Director, Global Subsidiaries, Standard Chartered Bank, Sriya Sharbojoya, Managing Director, Out of Blue-Design Studio, and Kate Jaro Khan, Deputy Head of HRD, Cosmos Group were special guests.
Peace is a recurring motif in Buddha’s modern and unique creations. His longing for a world that is devoid of chaos, hopelessness and brutality is evident in his work. He anticipates a peaceful utopia, where human empathy and cooperation transcend national boundaries. He has arranged 31 solo exhibitions till date, and participated in at least 100 national and international group exhibitions.
A full-time artist, Buddha has received several national and international awards, including the 1992 Honorable Mention Award at a competition hosted by Alliance Française de Dhaka, the 1991 Okamoto Prize by the Asian Cultural Center for UNESCO in Tokyo, Japan, and the 1990 Best Award on printmaking at the 9th National Young Artist’s Exhibition at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The exhibition, showcasing 25 acrylic paintings by the artist, will conclude on October 20.
