Shilpakala Academy’s artistic homage to Bangabandhu

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) is hosting an array of programmes, in honour of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, throughout August. Artistes and officials of BSA started off with a Shilpajatra from Dhaka to Tungipara, Gopalganj to place wreaths at the mausoleum of Bangabandhu. As the year 2020 marks the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation, 100 children created a floral garden there. Artistes also took part in a two-day workshop, where they shared ideas and created artworks on Bangabandhu.

An exhibition at the National Art Gallery of BSA showcases different portraits, historic photographs and paintings of Bangabandhu.

The National Art Gallery of BSA is showcasing a number of portraits, historic photographs and paintings of Bangabandhu in the month-long exhibition, while indigenous artists dedicated an exhibition titled Paharer Bornil Sangskriti to him. A theatre production, titled Mujib Maney Mukti, was also staged at the National Theatre Hall on August 6. The inauguration of the series, ‘Bangabandhu Memorial Speech’ was held at the National Art Gallery Auditorium the next day.

Readings and review sessions of Bangabandhu’s Asamapta Atmajibani and Karagarer Rojnamcha, alongside an exhibition of 100 books on Bangabandhu is also being held at the National Art Gallery Plaza, where students from various schools are taking part.

The month-long arrangement also included a musical homage to the great leader, titled Baul-er Konthe Bangabandhu, a countrywide children’s art competition and a documentary screening on the illustrious life of the Father of the Nation. Shilpakala Academy also held an installation exhibition on the grisly attack of August 21, 2004, and an art camp titled, Shilper Aloye Bangabandhu, in which renowned Bangladeshi artists participated.
