False rumour about actress Shabana’s death

A false rumour was spread about death of renowned film actress Shabana following a “confusing” headline of an online report on her. 

She is well and likely to visit Bangladesh in February, said Amit Hasan, general secretary of Bangladesh Film Actors Association, putting an end to the rumour.

Amit, also an actor himself, told the Bangla daily Prothom Alo that a rumour about the death of Shabana was spread yesterday afternoon after an online news portal published a report on her with a confusing headline.

“Many fans and well wishers called me up regarding the news and I talked to some of her relatives for confirmation. They have assured me that she is well and is likely to visit Bangladesh in February,” Amit told the Bangla daily.

An online news portal yesterday published a report on the evergreen actress with a confusing headline which stirred a rumour of her death.

Shabana was a highly popular and acclaimed actress in Bangladeshi film. In an acting career that began in the 1960s and encompassed four decades, Shabana won 12 National Film Awards. She retired from acting in 1997 and settled with her family in the US in 2000.
