‘The Revelation’ to compete in Pink City International Short Film Festival
The Revelation, a short film from Bangladesh, has been selected in the Foreign Films category of the Pink City International Short Film Festival, which will begin from September 1 this year, in Jaipur, India. The festival will end on September 15.
The short film has been screened at 13 film festivals, held in seven different countries. Last year, it was screened at the grand opening ceremony of the 9 th China International Short Film Festival. The film was also selected in several other prestigious festivals such as Cefalu Film Festival, Cefalu, Italy, NPS International Children’s Film Festival, Assam, India, Cardiff International Film Festival, United Kingdom, Global Youth Film Festival 2018, Bangladesh, Africa International Film Festival, Lagos, Nigeria, and the 11th international Children’s Film Festival, Bangladesh.
The Revelation is about a talented young artist who detests nonfigurative art. She desperately tries to submit her meticulously painted masterpiece before the submission deadline for an important art exhibition. “The film has been adapted from one of the short stories of Satyajit Ray,” says Faridul Ahasan Shourav, the director and screenplay writer of the short film.
Shooting of The Revelation took place in different locations across the capital such as Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, an art studio of Uttara and at Moderna Museet Mane Museum of Stockholm, Sweden.
The role of the protagonist is played by Safwat Tasnia Priyanka. The cinematography is done by Shariful Islam Shamim. Kalpopriya Chowdhury, Marium Mahzabin and Fairuja Krishty recorded the music and sound for the film. Shourav, the director himself, is behind the production, art direction, colour correction and editing of the short film.
