Haldaa lights up SAARC Film Festival
Tauquir Ahmed's Haldaa took home four awards at the 8th SAARC Film Festival held in Sri Lanka, Colombo from May 22 to 26. The film won in the best film, best cinematography, best editing and the best music categories.
Haldaa narrates the story of the endangered Haldaa river and struggling life of the fishermen of the river located in south-eastern Bangladesh.
“Directors send out their finest films in the SAARC Film Festival, so for one film to be winning in four categories is a huge honour,” says Tauquir Ahmed. “I am ecstatic that my film was acknowledged at such an important region-based festival.” He further adds that he was happy to see such positive reactions for a Bangladeshi film in an international platform. “People from different countries were able to connect to my film- which is our ultimate goal.”
