Winners at the 2019 Critics' Choice Awards

With four prizes, Roma was the biggest winner at the 24th Critics' Choice Awards, which celebrates the finest in cinema and television.

The winners were presented with awards at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica recently. This year's show, hosted by Taye Diggs, was presented by the Broadcast Film Critics Association and the Broadcast Television Journalists Association.

Netflix drama Roma won Best Picture and Best Foreign Film, while Alfonso Cuarón received the Best Director and Best Cinematography awards for the same film. Other big winners included Black Panther and Vice (three each), with the latter's lead Christian Bale receiving two awards for Best Actor and Best Actor in a Comedy.

 Heading into the event, The Favourite was the frontrunner with 14 nominations, but the film managed only two victories, for Best Acting Ensemble and Best Actress in a Comedy (Olivia Colman).

Lady Gaga was the centre of attention as she bagged Best Song for Shallow, her duet with Bradley Cooper from A Star Is Born, and won Best Actress for her performance in A Star Is Born, in a tie with veteran stage and screen star Glenn Close for The Wife.
