BNSS holds Nazrul Utshab 2018
Bangladesh Nazrul Sangeet Sangstha (BNSS) organised Nazrul Utshab 2018 marking the 119th birth anniversary of the National, Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. The two-day (July 6-7) festival, featuring solo and choral rendition of songs, recitation of poems and dance presentations, was held at the main auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum.
A number of renowned and promising artistes of BNSS along with accomplished singers from across the country performed a diverse genre of Nazrul Sangeet at the festival. Khairul Anam Shakil, general secretary of BNSS, and Joseph Kamol Rodriguez, a vice president of the organisation, delivered welcome addresses at the opening ceremony on July 6. The organisers honoured Maya Roy from Agartala, India, a Nazrul Sangeet researcher and a special guest of the programme, on the occasion.
Nahyan Durdana Shuchi performed a song E Nohe Bilash Bondhu while Anupama Das sang a ghazal-ang song Cheyona Sunayona. Apart from performances by many upcoming singers, renowned Nazrul Artistes -- Dalia Nausheen, Khairul Anam Shakil, Kalpana Anam, Joseph Kamol Rodriguez, Nasima Shaheen Fancy, Salahuddin Ahmed, Sharmin Sathi Islam and others rendered solos on the opening day. Choreographed by renowned dancer Sharmila Banerjee, artistes of Nritya Nandan together with promising dancer Monira Parveen Happy performed dances on the day.
Artistes of BNSS set off the concluding day's (July 7) musical proceedings with the choral song Bolo Nahi Bhoy while young singers presented another choral number Tomar Mohabishwe. Talented singer Mohit Khan beautifully performed a monsoon melody Borosha Oi Elo Borosha while Susmita Debnath Suchi rendered a kirttan Sakhi Sajaye Rakhlo Pushpa Bashor. Promising singer Mahmudul Hasan sang a song Boshiya Bijon-e. Noted artiste Ferdous Ara performed a song Mon-e Rakhar Din Giyechhe at the event.
Bhabna director Samina Husain Prema danced beautifully to a Nazrul number. Elocutionists Bhashwar Bandopadhyay and Monirul Hasan Apel recited from Nazrul creations. Towards the end, artistes of BNSS performed a spirited choral number Joyo Hok. The festival wrapped up with a rendition of the National Anthem.
