Minar sings for Tollywood
Minar had been touted as one of Bangladesh's most promising singers when he debuted with Danpitey in 2008, but his career took a true upward spiral since the release of his blockbuster album Ahare. The singer is now going to lend his unique voice to Kolkata's film Fidaa in the song Eka Din Phaaka Raat, starring Tollywood hunk Yash Dasgupta and newcomer Sanjana. The song is composed by talented music director Arindam Chatterjee, who has admittedly been a fan of Minar ever since he heard Ahare. Minar told The Daily Star that when Arindam approached him for the song, he was sent the tentative tune for it. “I recorded it from here and sent it to him, so you can say that it is a cross-border collaboration”. Arindam Chatterjee had previously worked in a similar way with Atif Aslam in the film Cockpit. The upcoming film, Fidaa is slated to release on this Eid. The film will be directed by Pathikrit Basu, who had directed January's action-comedy Total Dadagiri. Minar's inclusion in the project is testament to his immense popularity not only in Bangladesh, but on the other side of the border as well.
He has also recently worked in a song that he dedicated to parents, Baba Maa'r Jonno, which will release soon.
