Ghaashphoring Choir launches their debut album
Popular musical group, Ghaashphoring Choir, launched their debut album, Kichu Kotha Kichu Gaan, last weekend. The launching ceremony took place at the National Art Galllery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Ghaashphoring Choir was founded by singer-songwriter and Berklee College of Music graduate, Armeen Musa, in 2015.
“Ghaashphoring Choir is a completely non-commercial project,” says Armeen. “We are really lucky to have so much love and support from our friends, families and fans over the years. The album is our way of giving back to them and to our community.”
Popular singers and musicians, including Bappa Mazumder, Elita Karim, Sovvota, Shibu Kumer Shill from the band Meghdol, Leemon and Anik from the band Leemonade, along with fans and followers of Ghaashphoring Choir, attended the event. The choir performed several tribute songs with the guest artistes and new songs from their debut album. Later on, Armeen’s mother, renowned Nazrul Sangeet exponent, Dr Nashid Kamal, launched the album.
The album is the result of three years of work and comprises of eight tracks, which include new arrangements of Bangla songs of different genres, ranging from folk to contemporary Bangla music and one original piece. It features Anusheh Anadil and Shibu Kumer Shill as well as other guest instrumentalists. It has been mixed and mastered by Buno from Bangla. Dr Nashid Kamal has written Kichu Kotha Kichu Gaan, the title track of the album.
“I am really proud of my team. They went above and beyond to make our sold-out album launch concert a success,” adds Armeen.
The launch of Kichu Kotha Kichu Gaan kicks off a series of concerts for Ghaashphoring Choir over the next two months, during which they will hold shows in both Dhaka and Chattogram and release two music videos. They will be performing at the Dhaka Lit Fest. The album will be available for purchase at the choir’s shows, and will be available online over the coming weeks.
