Abu Saleh Titu’s ‘Rusty Allure’ on display at Bangladesh National Museum

Abu Saleh Titu's third solo exhibition, titled Rusty Allure, is on display at Bangladesh National Museum. The exhibition was inaugurated by National Professor, Dr Anisuzzaman. Renowned painter Monsur Ul Karim, writer and researcher, Dr Morshed Shafiul Hasan, President and Managing Director of AB Bank Ltd, Tarique Afzal, were present as special guests in the exhibition. Inaugurated on February 7, Rusty Allure will go on until February 16.

Dhaka is gradually losing its magic amidst pollution, intolerance and huge unsustainable urbanization. "The pain and distress of this city is not only of the city dwellers -- even the bricks and stones of this city has their own angst and agony. I wanted to portray these feelings with colours and shades," expresses Titu. The artist feels that the affection and compassion for this city is hiding under a gradually increasing layer of rust, and yet, he does not want to escape its rusty allure.  

Titu primarily uses acrylic and oil medium for his paintings, the artist experimented with different shades of colors in the 43 paintings exhibited in the exhibition. "I personally prefer to emphasise more on color than on the subject," the artist shares about his paintings.

Born in Chuadanga, Abu Saleh Titu is a dedicated artist, always trying to portray his subjects in various experimental forms. Titu's first painting exhibition was in 1994. Since then, he participated in a number of group exhibitions and in 2001, his second solo exhibition took place. Titu plans to extend his exhibitions internationally in the near future.

The exhibition is open for all, from 10:30am to 8pm, and 3:30pm to 7:30pm on Friday.
