Artist Najib Tareque’s solo exhibition underway at Dwip Gallery
Prominent artist, printmaker and writer Najib Tareque’s solo exhibition, ‘Anybody can do it, please do it...’, curated by renowned artist and critic Mustafa Zaman, and organised by 180 Degree, is underway at Dwip Gallery. This is the second show of Najib’s ‘Anybody can do it, please do it...’ series.
The artist completed his MFA in Printmaking from the Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka. He is best known for his new media works. Since 1987, he has participated in various group art exhibitions.
Eminent artists Professor Mohammad Eunus and Professor Shishir Bhattacharjee jointly inaugurated the exhibition as honourable guests. The event showcases more than 80 abstract ink, watercolour and pastel artworks. Najib completed the exhibited works over a period of three decades. According to him, people may easily accomplish what he has done with paint and a brush. He drew the paintings with a spirit of freedom to embody the objective world around him.
“Najib’s works testify to a series of artistic activity that creates scope for rethinking the picture plain in the light of his enthusiasm for gesture, geometry as well as organic form and the freedom to abandon the pursuit of a singular style,” explains Mustafa Zaman, the curator of the exhibition. “Consequently, multiple styles appear in this exhibition, and they are framed through a multiplicity of compositional matrices.” The exhibition concludes on December 15.
