BSA holds press conference to acknowledge television fiction as an art form

Aiming to eradicate the crisis faced by the television industry and to acknowledge tele-fiction as an art form, a press conference was held at the seminar hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on December 8. Representatives from Television Programme Producers Association, Director's Guild, Abhinay Shilpi Shangha, Television Nattokar Shongho, Cameraman Association, and Television Media Makeup Artist Association and other noted named of the television industry were present at the press conference.

Addressing all the political parties and alliances in support of Bangla culture in the upcoming 11th national parliamentary elections, the representatives presented a five point manifesto. The manifesto included demands, which included the request to recognise tele-fictions as an art form.

Eminent actor Mamunur Rashid said that they had presented a ten point manifesto in 2016 which, if implemented, would put the industry in a better position. He also pointed out that causes such as the domination of foreign drama and lack of regulation  have brought the television industry to the verge of wreckage. Actor and General Manager of Drama & Telefilms, Channel i, Shahidul Alam Sachchu said, “We demand the political parties include the acknowledgment of tele-fictions as an art form, which will then shed light on the urgency of its development and promotion.”
