After months of inactivity, cinema halls will reopen on October 16, maintaining all health guidelines.

However, producers and directors are uncertain about releasing new movies, as they are worried about whether audiences will actually turn up in the theatres.

A good number of censor board-approved films, such as Bidrohi, Mission Extreme, Casino, Biswa Shundori, Poran, Jinn, Unoponchash Batash, Shaan, Nil Mukut, and Paap Punno, among others, are still waiting to hit theatres.

"Even when the halls reopen, we can't take risks with big budget films," shares Shahin Sumon, director of Bidrohi, "I believe we should be patient for at least two to three months, as we need audiences to visit theatres without any fears."

The director also said he has another movie, Pagoler Moto Bhalobashi, lined up for release. On the other hand, Saikat Nasir, director of Casino is concerned about profits.

"Health is more important than entertainment," he says. "We must wait for things to get better. We can't expect to get even the minimal returns on our investment, if we release the film right now."

The release of the Jaaz Multimedia production and Nader Chowdhury directorial Jinn, is also uncertain.

Similarly, the Raihan Rafi directorial Poran, produced by Live Technologies, will be on the waiting list for at least two months.

On the other hand, Anonno Mamun's Nawab LLB will be released in two months on the OTT platform I Theatre App. The director shared that they will wait a bit more for the theatrical release.

Moreover, the owner of Modhumita Cinema Hall, Iftekhar Uddin Nawshad expressed his concerns. "Producers will not release new films, and audiences will not be attracted to old ones. As a result, we are in a dilemma," he concludes.
